The beginnings

Finca Babo Yaro is located near the “Nevado de Colima” National Park and one hour from the beaches of Manzanillo. It was founded in 1997 as a non-profit organization, on land without life, devastated by erosion and immoderated logging, which has required a long process to begin with the ecological project that was in mind. And with the intention of designing it with complete self-support, we make an enormous effort to be able to condition the soil and make it fertile for the various Permaculture activities that are carried out on the farm, as well as to develop the necessary infrastructure to give Shape our dream.

Through organic composts we nourish the soil to plant vegetables, fruit trees and trees of Babo Yaro (Ním). We reforested the hillsides with trees in the region, which were totally bare. We build an adobe house, we introduce light, water and the basic comforts to survive. We adapt spaces for animals, and wild birds of the area – where the hand of man does not enter -, respecting their habitat in full, although we also have many domestic animals among cows, donkeys, horses and sheep that prune the grass and they lock in the night to protect them from coyotes.

The Finca Babo Yaro has a polyculture tree Babo Yaro (Ním), in addition to fruit trees such as avocado, mango, nance, lime, soursop, banana, papaya, carabolo, among others. Since 2008, the capsules, tea and seed oil of Babo Yaro (Ním) have been prepared and marketed, which were obtained after a period of ten years, which is the minimum time that this special tree needs to develop its active medicinal properties. This generous tree is native to Asia and requires certain climatic conditions similar to those found in Comala, so the land where the farm is found was very favorable for the development of the tree, from which the raw material for BABO products is obtained YARO (registered trademark 2007).

All the activities of the farm are done according to the principles of Permaculture with Biodynamic Agriculture technicians. We care for and protect the flora and fauna of the region, living in harmony with them. The BABO YARO project represents a factor of change for the community to which we belong, since through our actions we try to raise awareness of the people around us, in terms of sustainable development and respect for nature. The effort we make daily on the farm, we do so selflessly and with a high sense of union with Gaia.
